Growing up around home building, Louis' first job was on a construction site. He also worked several summers on a framing crew, gaining practical construction experience.

Louis attended the University or Wyoming where he earned a degree in Architectural Engineering. He worked several years as an Architectural Engineer, designing and analyzing structures. During this time he was also responsible for directing and checking the work of several draftsmen, as well as overseeing construction of the structures. Louis draws on this experience to ensure that his drawings are accurately and correctly.

Louis also has a Computer Science degree from the University of Texas. He worked for a number of years developing software, and brings this experience to TD Murphy Classic Homes to incorporate technology for efficiency in the workplace and help facilitate communications with the costumers.
